Thanks for faming me Friends

Skinny Dippers
An elderly man in North Carolina had owned a large farm for several years. He had a large pond in the back, fixed up really nice, along with some picnic tables, horseshoe courts, and some apple and peach trees. The pond was properly shaped and fixed up for swimming when it was built. One evening the old farmer decided to go down to the pond, as he hadn't been there for a while, and look it over. He grabbed a five gallon bucket to bring back some fruit. As he neared the pond, he heard voices shouting and laughing with glee. When he came closer, he realized it was a bunch of young women skinny-dipping in his pond. He made the women aware of his presence and they all went to the deep end to shield themselves. One of the women shouted to him, "We're not coming out until you leave!" The old man frowned and replied, "I didn't come down here to watch you ladies swim naked or make you get out of the pond naked." Holding the bucket up he said, "I'm here to feed the alligator.Moral of the story: Old men may move slow but can still think fast.

A Colorful Reunion
An old man sitting at the mall watched a teenager intently. The teenager had spiked hair in all different colors: green, red, orange, and blue. The old man kept staring at him. When the teenager was tired of being stared at, he sarcastically asked, "What's the matter, old man? Never did anything wild in your life?" The old man did not bat an eye when he responded, "Got drunk once and was with a peacock. I was just wondering if you were related."

A Reflective Picture
After living in the remote wilderness of Kentucky all his life, an old codger decided it was time to visit the big city. In one of the city's stores, he picked up a mirror and looked in it. Not knowing what it was, he remarked, "How about that! Here's a picture of my daddy." He bought the "picture," but on the way home remembered that his wife, Lizzy, didn't much like his father. So he hung it in the barn, and every morning before leaving for the fields, he would go there and look at it. The man's many trips to the barn began to draw Lizzy's suspicion. One day after her husband left, she searched the barn and found the mirror. As she looked into the glass, she fumed, "So that's the ugly so-and-so he's runnin' around with."

Might as Well Go Fishing
A young guy from Texas moves to California and goes to one of those big "everything under one roof" stores looking for a job. The manager asked, "Do you have any sales experience?" The kid said, "Sure, I was a salesman back home in Texas." The boss liked the kid so he gave him the job. "You start tomorrow. I'll come down after we close and see how you did." His first day on the job was rough but he got through it. After the store was locked up, the boss came down to see how things went. "How many sales did you make today?" The young man replied without hesitating, "One." The boss said, "Just one? Our sales people average 20 or 30 sales a day. How much was the sale for?" The kid said, "$101,237.64." The boss said, "$101,237.64?! What the hell did you sell?!" the kid said, "First I sold him a small fish hook. Then I sold him a medium fish hook. Then I sold him a larger fish hook. Then I sold him a new fishing rod. Then I asked him where he was going fishing and he said down at the coast, so I told him he was gonna need a boat, so we went down to the boat department and I sold him that twin-engine Chris Craft. Then he said he didn't think his Honda Civic would pull it, so I took him down to the automotive department and sold him that 4x4 Blazer." Amazed, the boss said, "A guy came in here to buy a fish hook and you sold him a boat and a truck?" "No, he came here to buy a box of necessaries for his wife and I said, 'Well, your weekend's shot, you might as well go fishing.'"

CAR INSURANCE QUOTE-Q&A

I recently got a ticket for Driving Without Insurance / With Insufficient Insurance but I have insurance. I got my insurance company to send me a letter showing the days I had coverage. What do I have to do to get this fixed in court?

How to take care of this driving without insurance citation in court will differ depending upon state laws and the specific jurisdiction court's procedures.

In general though you can usually call the clerk of the court listed on your citation and tell them that you have a ticket for driving without insurance (with insufficient insurance) but had insurance on the vehicle and now have proof to show the court.

Depending upon court procedures you may need to show this to the judge on your court date. Or many times you can bring in your insurance card and document from your insurance company verifying your insurance was in effect at the time of your citation before your court date and show these items to an officer of the court to get the citation dismissed. There may still be court fees to be paid, the court will tell you if there are and how much they will be.

Most states require that proof of INSURANCE be shown if you are stopped for a traffic violation or have been in an accident and thus needs to be with the insured vehicle at all times.

CAR INSURANCE Q&A

I live in California and was arrested for a DUI and caused an accident (no injuries). My insurance was cancelled 2 months ago because of non-payment. I have no other arrests, judgements and have had have a clean record until now. What can I expect? I am currently training to try out for Navy Divers I have enlisted but am on a delayed program to prepare for the Navy dive school to begin in Oct.

In CALIFORNIA driving without insurance is a violation of California's Compulsory Financial Responsibility laws. Violating this section of the CA vehicle code can result in fines up to $500 plus penalties such as impoundment of the vehicle and suspension of the driver's license. If your vehicle was impounded you, the owner, will have to pay for all storage and tow charges as well.

The consequences can be far more serious if you are involved in an accident and do not have insurance. You may have to comply with the financial responsibility laws (SR22, SR22s, SR16) including having to pay for any injuries or damages from the accident out of your own pocket.

So that covers being uninsured and being in an accident but since you were also arrested for a DUI there will be other penalties put on your if you are convicted of this offense.

First the DMV can take an administrative action against your driving privilege after you are arrested for a DUI. The court may take a separate action (suspend, revoke or delay the license) for the same offense. DMV’s action is related only to your driving privilege. The court’s action may involve payment of a fine, jail time, suspension or revocation of your driving privilege, and completion of a DUI program.

If you are convicted of driving with excessive BAC or while under the influence of either alcohol or drugs or both (DUI), you may be sentenced to serve up to six months in jail and to pay a fine between $390 and $1000 (plus about three times the fine in penalty assessments) the first time you are convicted. Your vehicle may be impounded and subject to storage fees as well.

The California Driver's manual states that on the first conviction of a DUI the court will suspend your driving privilege for six months and require you to complete a DUI program before you can be reinstated. The length of the program may vary. If your BAC was .15% or higher and you already had a record of violations for other reasons or refused to submit to a chemical test, the court may order you to complete a nine-month or longer program. If your BAC was .20% or higher and the court refers you to an enhanced DUI treatment program, your license will be suspended for 10 months.

All DUI convictions will remain on DMV’s records for ten years and the courts and the DMV may impose more stringent penalties for subsequent violations during that period.

Generally, if you are over 21 and enroll in a DUI program, file a California Insurance Proof Certificate (SR 22), pay the restriction and reissue fees, DMV will issue you a restricted driver license which allows you to drive to/from work and during the course of employment (unless you hold a commercial driver license) and to/from a DUI program. However, if you would be considered a “traffic safety” or “public safety risk” if permitted to drive, the court may order DMV not to grant you a restricted driver license.

Since the penalties are severe for a first time DUI offense, even if your record was clear up until this point, you may want to seek legal advice of if there are ways in which to reduce any of the penalties. To find out more about our citations and associated penalties you can read through information on the CA DMV site and/or contact the court listed on your tickets.
